Become part of the Prepare2Nspire community as a mentor or mentee (or both!). We provide a welcoming atmosphere, free meals, and bus passes. Learn while creating new friendships and find your math voice! See opportunities listed below for students in 8th grade, 11th grade, and undergraduate students at the University of Minnesota.

7th-9th grade students

Are you 7-9th grader looking for math tutoring? We are now enrolling for the 2023-2024 academic year!

Tutoring begins Fall, 2023 on Wednesday, September 20th from 4:30-6:00 p.m. at the Urban Research and Outreach-Engagement Center, (map).

Benefits include:

  • Diverse and welcoming atmosphere
  • Dinner provided
  • Math tutors are all University of Minnesota students
  • TI graphing calculators (and training!)
  • Attendance incentives

10th-12th grade students

Are you in 10th-12th grade and wanting to improve in math and prepare for the ACT?

Tutoring begins in Fall, 2023 and continues on Wednesday evenings from 4:30-7:00 p.m. at the Urban Research and Outreach-Engagement Center, (map).

Benefits include:

  • Math tutors are all University of Minnesota students
  • TI graphing calculators (and training!)
  • Attendance incentives
  • City bus passes, if needed
  • ACT preparation

Undergraduate University of Minnesota mentors

Do you want to make a difference and support students with their math confidence? We are currently accepting applications for math tutors for the 2023-2024 academic year!

We are hiring undergraduate University of Minnesota mentors with a comfortable foundation in mathematics who can consistently attend tutoring sessions each week from 4:30-7:00 p.m. at Urban Research and Outreach-Engagement Center, (map) from September 2023 - April 2024 outside of UMN Holidays. Previous tutoring experience preferred. Transportation not required.

Benefits include:

  • $17/hr pay
  • Dinner included
  • We will help with transportation
  • Rewarding experience tutoring youth and giving underrepresented students confidence in math
  • Work alongside a team to tutor students
  • Excellent experience working with youth
